Atlanta United 2 suffered a 5-1 defeat to Philadelphia Union II on the road Thursday night at Subaru Park.

Atlanta started out the match strong when Javier Armas connected to Ryan Carmichael who slipped through the backline, but goalkeeper Oliver Semmle came out of the 18-yard box to clear it. Cayman Togashi tried to catch Semmle off his line, but it went out for a goal kick in the 3rd minute of the match.

Philadelphia would find their first goal of the night in the 21st minute when David Vazquez found space on the left wing and delivered a chip into the box. Stas Korzeniowski rose above the defense and sent a looping header over Jayden Hibbert to make it 1-0.

Atlanta searched for a equalizer, but just before halftime, the Union would find a second. CJ Olney, from the left wing, curled a cross into the box. As Hibbert came off his line to punch it clear, Neil Pierre got there first, diving in to head the ball into the back of the net.

The match would take a turn in the 55th minute when Dominik Chong Qui was given a second yellow and sent off. Atlanta United 2 continued the rest of the match playing with 10 men.

The 2's continued to create opportunities, but Philadelphia has all of the momentum. The Union would find three goals in six minutes.

In the 70th minute, Edward Davis III dribbled down the right wing and floated a cross to Olney who found the back of the net to make it 3-0.

The Union would find back-to-back goals in the 75th and 76th minute.

Patrick Weah was subbed in in the 83rd minute and two minutes later, he would help create the only goal Atlanta had in the match. Cooper Sanchez slipped a through ball to Weah who touched around Ramzi Qawasmy and was tripped in the box earning the penalty for Atlanta. Armas stepped up to the spot and drilled it past Semmle.
