The U.S. Open Cup is back in action tonight as Atlanta United takes on Indy Eleven at 7:00p.m.
This will be the first meeting between Indy Eleven and the Five Stripes. Indy Eleven plays in the USL Championship and sits in third place in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta United sits in 10th in the Eastern Conference in MLS.
In the Round of 16, Atlanta United went on the road to defeat Charleston Battery in penalties after neither team could find the back of the net in a 0-0 draw. Indy Eleven beat Detroit City FC 3-0 in their round of 16 match back on May 22.
With a diminished roster, the Five Stripes will lean heavily on the homegrowns for this match. Fans could see Atlanta’s new homegrown signing in Matt Edwards, you can read more about his journey with Atlanta.

“We take every game as they come. I have been in the position that these teams have been in as a player, so I know how much it means to be in that position to try and knock on an MLS opponent,” said Rob Valentino. “Every game we come up against we want to win, so the players that are available and will play in this game are players that I believe can win this game and advance us in the open cup. Ultimately you’re playing for a trophy, and for me it's always a really important opportunity to show for yourself and for the club.”
