It's a busy Sunday for the Five Stripes as Atlanta United hosts Inter Miami at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Atlanta United 2 are on the road to Orlando for their first road match of the season.

Sunday Night Soccer: Atlanta United vs Inter Miami

There is a lot of history between the Five Stripes and the Herons. The last time these two sides face one another was in Game 3 of the Best of 3 Series in the MLS Cup Playoffs where Atlanta had the biggest upset in MLS history taking down Miami 3-2.

Atlanta United is coming off of a 0-0 draw to the New York Red Bulls last Saturday, and want to continue to build going into Sunday's match. We have seen the pieces slowly start to click and it's only a matter of time until we see those flood gates open and the puzzle is complete.

Inter Miami are unbeaten in 2025 in competitive matches and advanced to the Concacaf Champions Cup with a 2-0 win in Jamaica over Cavalier FC on Thursday night.

"They hurt you really hard when you make a mistake. They are so accurate. They are affective. You can see that over and over again that they don't need to produce so much, but when they produce the put the ball in the net or get clear cut chances. We need to be ourselves, number one, play with that intensity that we always have done and take advantage," said head coach Ronny Deila Friday in media availability. "It's about doing a real good team performance, like we have done in the three first halves. If we can make that for 90, we have a very good chance to win.

Defender Brooks Lennon will be available for Sunday's match which is good news for the Five Stripes. Ronny Deila has mentioned how important it is for the team to switch the point of attack from one side to the other, going up against Miami and with Lennon back in the fold, it could be a key component for a successful night for Atlanta.

"That's the way Ronny [Deila] wants to play. Getting the ball from one side to the other as quickly as possible and switching the ball through the middle of the pitch. That's what we work on all the time in training. It's starting to corollate into the games," said Lennon on Wednesday to the media.

"We watched a lot of film this morning on the Red Bulls game and how many good actions we had in that game with fullbacks overlapping. I think it's going to be great for me. I'm just itching to get back, and be able to put in some dangerous crosses into the box and hopefully get some assists."

“His work rate is tremendous, his ability to get up and down the pitch," said Brad Guzan on Friday in Media Availability. "He's a defender and somebody that is willing and able to close the ball down and defend how he needs to defend. On top of that, he’s got a really good right foot in terms of delivering crosses and being able to transition and help us transition from back to front. He’s someone that offers qualities on both sides of the ball.”

Atlanta is coming off of a 1-0 loss to New York Red Bulls II last Friday at Fifth Third Stadium.
