Gonzalo Pineda out at Atlanta United, Rob Valentino takes over as the interim manager

Atlanta United has parted ways with head coach Gonzalo Pineda, the club announced today. 



Assistant coach Rob Valentino will take over as interim head coach for the Five Stripes effective immediately. His first game in charge will be on June 15 as Atlanta hosts the Houston Dynamo at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.


Valentino has been with the club since 2018 and was interim coach in the 2021 season where he had a 4-2-2 record. 


Pineda joined Atlanta in August 2021, and led the club to a 34-34-29 record under his four years with Atlanta.


Along with Pineda, Atlanta United also parted ways with assistant coaches Diego de la Torre and Eugenio Villazón. Goalkeeper coach Liam Curran will remain on the coaching staff with Valentino.


Club President and CEO Garth Lagerwey will speak to media today at 3:00 p.m., the press conference will also be broadcast on 92.9 The Game radio.
