After a weather delay stretched the match across two days, Atlanta United 2 finally broke through, earning their first win of the season with a gritty victory over Inter Miami II.
On Sunday, April 7, Inter Miami would take an early lead in the third minute when Daniel Pinter drove down on the right side and found Mateo Saja sliding near the back post.
Three minutes later, Atlanta would equalize after capitalizing off of a turnover caused by Cayman Togashi a few yards outside the 18 yard box. Moises Tablante from the far left side of the 18 would slot the ball up in the goal.

At the 25th minute, Jayden Hibbert connected with Tablante at the the top of Miami's box and fired a shot that hit the crossbar and Matias Marin got a touch to push it over the goal for a corner kick for Atlanta.

Before Atlanta could take the corner, the referee blew the whistle and stopped play due to inclement weather. After a few hours and a broken broom, the match was postponed and resumed Monday, April 7 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The match was resumed at the 25th minute at 11:00 am today. Tablante would continue what he started on Sunday after looping a ball that kit the left post in the 33rd minute.
"When we got here, we were a little shocked about the stadium. It was incredible and he [Steve Cooke] took us and he just said that we got to just do what we did yesterday," said Tablante. "We conceded in the first five minutes yesterday, and he told us just focus on what you have to do today. What happened yesterday was yesterday, focus on today and you're going to get a result and we did."
Atlanta continued to hold their control of the match and took the lead in the 39th minute. Ryan Carmichael dribbled up the right wing and passed to Luke Brennan who fired a shot that Marin saved, but took another shot on the outside of his left foot to make it 2-1.

In the second half, Tablante would find his second goal of the match, and secodn goal in two days. Cayman Togashi stole the ball from Miami in the midfield where Cooper Sanchez and Carmichael combined to find Tablante running into the box who got around the defender to make it 3-1 in the 55th minute.
"I was like trying to sleep, and I think I fell asleep like at 12. Knowing that I was gonna wake up like at six in the morning because we have to be here at nine. It was a good experience even playing here [Mercedes-Benz Stadium]," said Tablante after the 3-2 win. "You're gonna play the World Cup here, you know, so even scoring in the World Cup stadium is something excited, so I'm so happy for that."

Inter Miami would pull a goal back in the 89th minute when Cristian Ortiz switched the point of attack to the right to find Diego Rey in Atlanta's 18-yard box. Rey slipped the ball to Preston Plambeck and put into the net.
Miami continued to push for an equalizer, but couldn't get past Atlanta defense and in the craziest two day match, Atlanta United 2 earned three points.
"I said this yesterday and today. I've never experienced this in my life. When you get to a point in your career where you think you've seen everything, but clearly you haven't. Every day's a new one, but it's interesting. People are gonna forget this, but about 24, 25 hours ago, we went a goal behind. I just told the boys in there, it's gonna be forgotten in the shuffle of what's just happened today. The reality is in the early stages yesterday, we conceded a goal, came back, scored one, and it's a really great reaction," said Head Coach Steve Cooke after the match."
Atlanta United 2 had 17 shot and 7 of them were on target where Inter Miami II had 9 shots with only 2 shots on target.
"I thought the first period today, and the first half an hour or so of the second half was exceptional. I couldn't be more pleased for the players because they've played really, really well this season and not always got the rewards. Today, I think it's a really great day for them to enjoy and I'm so pleased for the players."
It's a quick turn around for Atlanta United 2 as they go on the road to face Philadelphia Union II Thursday, April 10 at 7:00 p.m. We will have the radio call for you on soccerdownhere.mixlr.com and have live updated on our socials!
